November 29, 2025 — First Snow
So yesterday/today was the first real snow we’ve had for the winter season.
This morning was 28° (feels like 21°). No wind #grateful
Didn’t dress cold enough yesterday.
DEFINITELY dressed cold enough today.
November 28, 2025 — Working Sheep
We are planners, so we plan routine things throughout the year.
For example: every quarter we trim goat and sheep hooves.
Sometimes those get scheduled when it’s 14° outside.
Like today – the coldest it’s been so far and we were outside trimming the sheep hooves.
We are actively trying to get better at this.
Maybe skip winter next time?
November 24, 2025 — 2026 Calendar Pre-Orders
Pre-order by Nov 30th for 25% off!
11.23.25 SUN
Today I had to skip out of chores at 6:30am to head inside to cook a turkey for our Penner Thanksgiving.
It turned out well! I put the butter on the outside of the skin instead of the inside.
A simple and delicious way to make a turkey 🙂
11.08.25 SAT
Today was our last day milking until 2026.
Praise the Lord!
Our fingers (and the girls’ teats, i’m sure) are grateful – it’s been getting mighty cold at 5am
11.05.25 WED
We officially closed off our Grass Fed Beef waitlist for 2025!
11.02.25 SUN
Our first day not milking since April!
Rather than sleeping in, we choose to spend that first hour in quiet time (Jeff reads the Bible the ENTIRE time where I read the Bible, my current book: Practicing the Way, and also try to do a bit of journaling if I have the time) before venturing outside for chores.
Will do every other day for a few days to gently wean the girls off and begin drying them out.
11.01.25 SAT
Where has the time gone? This hasn’t been updated this since July!?!
07.09.25 TUE – THIS HEAT
So, it’s obviously been terribly hot this last week or two and Jeff has been a trooper and let me work on inside chores while he braves the heat outside in the evenings
07.08.25 TUE
1.5 inches of rain 😲
