March 27, 2026 — All Heart, No Quit

Our last ewe had twin lambs today, but one of the lambs had some issues with his back legs and could not stand up.

I came home for a couple hours to help Jeff and when I saw the little guy my heart just broke 💔

He was a perfect little baby, trying his hardest to reach his momma using only the strength of his front legs while his back legs trailed behind.

We took some time with him to get him stood up to see if his strength would build, and he would stand for a few seconds, wobble, then fall down again.

It was devastating but we were not going to give up on him.

We made an executive decision that it was safer for him to be in the bottle baby pen rather than with his momma and the other mommas (for fear of him being trampled by accident while he’s crawling around on the floor or resting from over exertion).

His first day was a hard one, but he is not alone, we milked his (crazy) momma to get a bottle full of her colostrum for him, and he got lots of cuddles and love from Jeff and I.
